January averages a low of 33 degrees, cold enough to split an unprotected line but not cold enough that people expect it. That combination does most of the winter damage between here and Mount Airy.

Common questions

How much does a plumber cost?

It depends on the job and how bad the problem is. That is why the first step is a phone call. Describe the problem and get your free estimate on the phone, with upfront pricing.

Will I talk to a real person?

Yes, you will.

Do I need to fill out a form?

No forms and no waiting on emailed quotes. One phone call is all it takes.

Can I get help at night or on a weekend?

We have plumbers ready to help families in the community 24/7, but moment-to-moment availability depends on demand. Call to find out how soon we can service your home.

Should I wait to call?

You already know that plumbing problems don't go away on their own. And waiting just increases the risks to your house. Plumbers see this hesitation all the time. Instead of regretting not calling earlier, just make that 2-minute call now and get your free estimate.

People also ask

Every drain in the house gurgles at once. Is that one clog?

More often it is the vent, not the drain. When the stack cannot pull air, water leaving one fixture drags it out of the traps around it, and the gurgle is the sound of that. A plumber checks the roof opening and the stack before touching a drain line, since snaking a clear pipe changes nothing.

A plumber snaked the line twice and the drain is still slow. Now what?

If the line comes back clear both times, the problem is upstream of the drain rather than in it. Venting and pipe slope are the two usual answers, and a camera run tells them apart. Repeating the snaking is the expensive way to learn the same thing.

How long does a water heater usually last?

Most tanks run about a decade, less where the water is hard or full of sediment. Rusty water, popping noises and moisture at the base are the signs it is near the end. Replacing one on your own schedule is far easier than doing it after the tank splits.

Should I be there when a plumber comes?

It helps a great deal. Somebody who can say which fixtures act up together, and when it started, saves the diagnosis a lot of guessing. Clear access to the water heater and to the shutoff before the visit is the other useful thing.
