Seasonal timing

Winter here is short, about 36 freezing nights, so a hose bib left in service through it is more habit than oversight. One hard night is still enough to split the pipe behind it.

Common questions

How much does a plumber cost?

It depends on the job and how bad the problem is. That is why the first step is a phone call. Describe the problem and get your free estimate on the phone, with upfront pricing.

Will I talk to a real person?

Yes, you will.

Do I need to fill out a form?

No forms and no waiting on emailed quotes. One phone call is all it takes.

Can I get help at night or on a weekend?

We have plumbers ready to help families in the community 24/7, but moment-to-moment availability depends on demand. Call to find out how soon we can service your home.

Should I wait to call?

You already know that plumbing problems don't go away on their own. And waiting just increases the risks to your house. Plumbers see this hesitation all the time. Instead of regretting not calling earlier, just make that 2-minute call now and get your free estimate.

People also ask

Why does an old drain clog again a few weeks after it was cleared?

Scale. The inside of an aged iron line grows a rough crust that catches everything passing through it. Clearing the blockage does not restore the diameter, so the next one forms in the same spot. A camera shows whether the pipe is narrowed or simply dirty.

How often does a septic tank need pumping?

It depends on tank size and how many people live in the house, but it is a routine on the order of a few years rather than a one-time thing. Skipping it is what pushes solids into the field, and a ruined field costs far more to put right than a pumping does.

Do laundry and long showers really affect a septic system?

They do. A field can only absorb so much in a day, and several loads of washing plus heavy shower use can outrun it, especially when the ground is already saturated. Spreading water use across the week is one of the few things that genuinely extends a field's life.

Where is my main shutoff likely to be?

In houses without a basement it is often where the line enters, near a front hose bib or in a utility closet, and there is usually a curb stop out by the meter as well. Find it on a calm afternoon and make sure it actually turns. A valve nobody has moved in twenty years tends to seize.
