Seasonal timing

Only about 11 nights a year fall below freezing, so the ground barely rests and roots keep working at a leaking lateral through much of the winter as well as the summer.

Common questions

How much does a plumber cost?

It depends on the job and how bad the problem is. That is why the first step is a phone call. Describe the problem and get your free estimate on the phone, with upfront pricing.

Will I talk to a real person?

Yes, you will.

Do I need to fill out a form?

No forms and no waiting on emailed quotes. One phone call is all it takes.

Can I get help at night or on a weekend?

We have plumbers ready to help families in the community 24/7, but moment-to-moment availability depends on demand. Call to find out how soon we can service your home.

Should I wait to call?

You already know that plumbing problems don't go away on their own. And waiting just increases the risks to your house. Plumbers see this hesitation all the time. Instead of regretting not calling earlier, just make that 2-minute call now and get your free estimate.

People also ask

My historic house has the original sewer line. Can it be lined?

Often yes, if the camera shows the pipe still holds a round shape and the roots can be cut back first. Lining preserves the yard and the walkway above it, which matters on a tight historic lot. A section that has broken apart or dropped will still need to be opened and replaced.

Does the high water table affect the sewer line here?

It does. Groundwater pushes into any crack, so a leaking lateral takes in water instead of only leaking out, and that extra flow can back the line up during wet weather even when nothing is blocking it. A camera run during a wet spell shows the intrusion clearly.

Who is responsible for the line under the sidewalk?

The homeowner, in most arrangements, right up to the tie-in at the public main. Sidewalks and street cuts also bring permits into it. Ask the utility for the demarcation and the permit process before scheduling work, because that step drives the timeline more than the digging does.

Are city sewer backups covered by my insurance?

It depends on the policy, and sewer backup coverage is commonly sold as an add-on rather than included, so contact your insurance provider before cleanup starts. Photograph the damage and the water line on the walls. Keep whatever the plumber writes about where the blockage sat.
