What a pro does

The first question a plumber answers is how far down the problem sits. One slow lavatory in an Americus bungalow is a trap or a branch line. Two or three fixtures going at once means the trouble is downstream of all of them, and that changes the tool and the access point both. In a slab home the drain lines run under concrete on a shallow fall, which is unforgiving of grease and of anything that settles, so a line that ran fine for thirty years can start holding solids once the fall is even slightly off. Older places around Milledgeville and Sandersville still have cast iron under the floor, and cast iron scales inward over the decades until the opening is a fraction of what the pipe measures. A cable clears a soft blockage, and that's often the end of it.
